Work Travel Volunteer

What could be better than skiing all day and partying all night? Partying all day and skiing all night? Kidding.

If you're a snow lover, think about doing one of these jobs overseas:

• Ski or snowboard instructor
• Ski courier (like a babysitter)
• Chalet staff worker

The pay is not great but the work is more of a lifestyle choice, the scenery to die for and you'll meet friends for life.

Where and when could you work?

In Europe, try France, Switzerland, Austria, or Italy. The ski season generally runs from November to April .
For further afield try USA or Canada, Australia (yes, they do have snow), New Zealand, Japan or South America. Japan's, the USA's and Canada's season also runs from November to April whilst the others run from June to October.

Don't forget that work could extend into the summer months if you have relevant experience in more summery options too - windsurfing, waterskiing, rock climbing etc.

Obtaining instructor licenses

BASI runs licence courses. Some organisations also combine obtaining a licence with finding a job, which can be helpful.

Another point to note is some large American ski operators will also employ you before you go over to the USA, which means you can obtain a H2B visa not a J1 visa, which has more restrictions. For more on working in the USA visit our working in the USA page.
