Teaching English is a popular option in all countries, China particularly. There are other options in China, such as assisting in schools or helping to conserve pandas but volunteer efforts are not as well known as in India and Nepal.
As well as teaching English in India and Nepal, there are hundreds of community development options - working in hospitals (particularly if you are skilled), assisting on sports programmes for under privileged children, physical rehabilitation through music and dance for disabled adults, teaching autistic children. The list goes on. Conservation volunteering in India and Nepal is less popular than in Africa or South America but there are projects out there. Search our directory to find out more about volunteer opportunities in this region and visit our Northeast Asia and India and Nepal pages to find out more about these wonderful countries. |
