New Zealand is now largely associated with The Lord of the Rings. Ethereal scenery, misty mountains, vast hilly grasslands, glacial tors. If you want outdoors, New Zealand is the place to be.
Comprising of two large islands and numerous smaller islands, including Stewart Island and the Chatham Islands, is geographically diverse and fairly isolated. Its closest neighbour is Australia - 2000kms away.
Because of New Zealand's long isolation from the rest of the world you will find an enormous amount of diverse flora and fauna. Over 80% of the flora here only occurs in New Zealand.
You want some excitement?
Bungee jumping, jet boating, sky diving, zorbing, lugeing, parachuting, paragliding, kite-boarding, white water rafting or white water sledging should do the trick. Queenstown is the adrenaline capital of New Zealand but Rotaroa on the North Island comes a close second.
